The Return
A while ago, tree surgeons were hired to take care of the old trees at the Marina and some severe pruning scared away a lot of bats we used to have for their prey had dwindled.
However, the trees have flourished from their extreme hair cuts and new trees have been planted, critters and birds and owls have started to return with the generous foledge as their home.
Just recently, at dusk, I have started to notice the distinctive flurry of wings as the bats have finally returned home, zipping around chasing bugs near the lights.
It is a pleasure to watch them hunt in the dull light, aerial acrobatics that appear effortless. These tiny critters are finally back and I for one enjoy watching their evening dance in the pale moonlight.
