Goodbye X

Just recently I have found this app so toxic and negative. I barely see anything from anyone I follow, and don’t get me started on how fowl the comments section can be.

Removing the ability to block someone was the final straw. Although it’s not a feature I have needed to use that much in the past, I can understand how important it can be for some people to keep others out of their lives.

I guess I was seeking a reason to delete the app after I had been procrastinating over doing so since Twitter became X. Only now I feel my reason to go is justified and justification trumps procrastination.

And I sincerely doubt anyone will notice my absence.  I’ve downloaded all my pictures and have the glorious task in discovering just how many kitty pics I have posted.

I won’t be sorry to leave the site now as social media isn’t the same as it used to be. My Space was my favourite platform of all time and I miss that community, learning basic coding to adapt the presentation of your page, sharing music and chatting to friends with MSN.

Today, social media is no longer a networking community of like-minded individuals. It has become a blood thirsty influence driven multi-billion dollar industry where everyone is fighting over likes and filming their ice trays.

Sometimes, I think about stepping away from all forms of social media… but then I would I share pictures of my cats?

  1. I’ve never installed the app, but you can still block people on the main website. I’m not nearly as active on this platform as I used to be over the years, not much interests me on there anymore, we’ll see how it goes!! 🤔

  2. I was never attracted by Twitter, whenever I read about it it seemed like a place for tearing people apart and that’s not the kind of thing I want to be involved with. So, well done! 👏🏻
